In movies, not all dons wear designer clothes or drive fancy BMWs. That doesn't make them any less threatening though. On the contrary, Bollywood has quite a thing for quirky mafia leaders.
Their get-ups may range from grim to ghastly, but their actions remain consistently ruthless. Despite their evil deeds on screen, they are presented larger than life on celluloid and get to mouth dialogues as punchy as their fists.
A case in point is the modern-day Sholay titled Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag, scheduled for release on August 31. The film features Amitabh Bachchan as the fierce-looking Babban in a revamped version of Daku Gabbar Singh.
After Ramu's realistic portrayal of the underworld belly in films like Satya and Company, Aag goes for a clearly quixotic take.
