Madonna and Guy Ritchie
Together: since 2000
It was Sting and Trudie who introduced British director Guy Ritchie to the sizzling American pop star in 1999 at a dinner party. In August 2000 Madonna gave birth to their son Rocco and six months later they were married in a fairytale ceremony at the 12th century Skibo castle in Scotland.
Madonna, who was briefly married to Sean Penn, has starred in several films that Guy has directed. The couple 'renewed' their marriage vows in 2004 at their Wiltshire home in a Kabbalah-style ceremony. Both Guy and Madonna are drawn to this variety of Jewish mysticism.
In an interview to MTV, Madonna once confessed that she thought of splitting up with Guy: 'I got married for all the wrong reasons. My husband did not turn out to be everything I imagined him to be. I just wanted to end everything. There's no such thing as the perfect soulmate. Your soulmate is the person that pushes all your buttons -- pisses you off on a regular basis. It's not easy having a good marriage but I don't want easy. I thank God every day that I married a man who made me think. That's my definition of true love'.
