Veer-Zaara may have been touted as an epic cross-border romance. But it could have very well be renamed, Saamiya. For while both Veer (Shah Rukh Khan) and Zaara (Preity Zinta) resign themselves to fate, Veer's Pakistani lawyer, Saamiya Siddiqui takes the matter in her own hands.

Not only does she pull all stops to fight their cause, she travels all the way to India to unearth Zaara, reunites the two and wins the case.

While all Veer and Zaara do is sigh and pine, Saamiya with her electrifying speeches and articulate arguments emerges as a woman of substance and grit.
