The gutsy Yash Raj ladies

Sridevi in Lamhe

She loves a man (Anil Kapoor) who loves her dead mother. Lamhe's unconventional story-line laid the foundation for unusual characters. And that's what makes Pooja, with her child-woman quality, so endearing.

The fun-loving Pooja doesn't mince words. She's beautiful, intelligent and aware of it. She falls for an elderly guy but sans any guilt or confusion. Even when she finds out about his connection with her deceased mum, she does away with all the drama.

While a typical Hindi film heroine would have headed for the first rat poison jar in the vicinity, Pooja immerses herself in work. The dignified indifference, eventually, pays off.
