On the sets of Adoor's new film
From the back door, Nandita Das emerged, wearing a blouse stitched in 1940s style and a mundu. She stood near the well and with her was K P A C Lalitha, who plays the mother. Lalitha is a constant feature in all of Adoor's films. The local people did not seem to recognise Nandita.
The shot was a long one. As Kavya walked slowly towards the house, Nandita and Lalitha were engaged in animated conversation near the well. Kavya heard bits and pieces of their conversation, turned her head and looked at them for a second, and then went inside.
Again, just two rehearsals, and the shot was canned.
