It was 9 am and Adoor had chosen a typical old Travancore house for the shooting. The lights, trolley and camera were ready in the frontyard. The art director and his team were spraying water and pasting green moss on the walls of the well, on the left of the house. The neatly plastered parapet had to look well worn-out.
Adoor came out of the narrow wooden doors close to the well, took a look at the work of the art team, and said, "You see moss only on walls which are exposed to rain."
