This character is probably one of the most unforgettable comic ones. As the oldish Marathi landlord, Paresh Rawal excelled in this role, getting the nuances just right, and adding his own to the character.

He predictably got several offers on similar lines after that, which he is said to have refused. But the actor became so synonymous with this character, that filmmakers found it hard to separate Baburao Ganpatrao Apte and Paresh Rawal, and several of his roles after were inspired by this character, in one way or the other.
