'Mallika was not my choice'

September 12, 2006
Pyaar Ke Side Effects is not a sex comedy

Pyaar Ke Side Effects is about love between two different kinds of people, and the commitment issues that men have. I think everyone is afraid of taking responsibilities, to some extent. Men, more so than women.

The film is essentially the journey between the marriage proposal and the wedding; how Rahul Bose's character reacts to marriage.

I guess there are a few personal experiences too. My friends say I have commitment issues, but I would not like to believe that. A lot of incidences are from Delhi, where I'm from. All the characters are names of my best friends.

Pyaar Ke Side Effects is not a sex comedy. It's about a couple who have been in a relationship for three years, so they are definitely going to be intimate.

Mallika's look is very contemporary in the film. Women from Delhi always dress well, much more than girls in Mumbai. Girls in Mumbai dress alike. It's usually a short top and low-waist jeans. In Delhi, you'll find more variety and colour.

Rahul's look is very trendy. I think the only thing I was disturbed was when he wore pink. I couldn't get over the idea that men could wear pink. I was like my heroes don't wear pink. But after the film, I started wearing pink!
