Vallavan is an eagerly awaited film because it is young actor Silambarasan's directorial debut though it was rumoured that he ghost directed his earlier film, Manmadhan. He has also written the story and screenplay, and of course, starred in the film.

The film has three heroines, Sandhya, Nayanthara and Reema Sen.

Yuvan Shankar Raja's music is at the top of the charts already especially the song, Loose penne, sung by Silmabarasan himself. Yes, he is the director, story and screenplay writer, actor and singer in the film!
