An emotionally draining movie, this 1985 Hector Babenco film revolves around two prison inmates in South America. William Hurt plays Luis Molina, arrested for immoral behaviour, while Raul Julia plays Valentin Arregui, a political prisoner. The two men grow intimately close, as the film breaks through their differences.

Hurt won the Best Actor award at the Oscars and Cannes that year.
