Why did you turn a producer from being a distributor?
I was in the family automobile business earlier. I never thought that I would be part of the industry one day. There was a distribution company opposite my office, so I would chat with the distributors and was fascinated by their success stories. Then I became a distributor and later turned producer in 2002.
As a producer, how worried are you about piracy?
Due to privacy, a film loses about 20-25 per cent of its repeat audience. If piracy is controlled, the viewership will increase. Piracy is a worldwide problem and not something that just affects the Telugu film industry. As far as steps to combat it go, the Producers Council has set up a Video Piracy Cell, which is taking some measures against piracy. Perhaps when digital technology comes in a big way, piracy may be controlled.
