You earlier mentioned that you had to find Aishwarya. What exactly did you mean?
By trying to understand Aishwarya, I found the real her. I didn't choose her for the part. Umrao Jaan chose her. Aishwarya has played the part of the courtesan with grace.
Tell us more about the rest of the cast.
Abhishek Bachchan, who made his debut in my Refugee, will be seen as Nawab Sultan. Sunil Shetty plays Faiz Ali. Shabana Azmi will be seen in Madame Khanam Jaan's role (originally played by her mother Shaukat), which she has played with panache.
