Cate Blanchett as Bob Dylan, how apt!

On Robert Allen Zimmerman's 65th birthday today, May 24, 2006, there is some news for his followers.

Australian actress Cate Blanchett (inset, bottom right) has confirmed that she will play a young Bob Dylan - the name Zimmerman is slightly more familiar as across the globe -- in I'm Not There, reportedly the first Hollywood film the iconic and eccentric singer-songwriter has authorised on his life.

Brokeback Mountain star Heath Ledger (inset, top left) , Batman Begins star Christian Bale, Ben Wishaw (Layer Cake) and Pretty Woman wooer Richard Gere (inset, right) will play Dylan at other times in his life.

Shooting is expected to begin in Montreal in July, and director Todd Haynes' team is looking for another person to play the guitar-strumming, Nobel-nominated poet who has recently turned satellite radio jockey and shocked fans and critics alike for doing what he said way back in a 1965 press conference he would love to do: Sell ladies' undergarments!
