Bollywood and militancy!

Droh Kal (1994)

Govind Nihalani's film was about two policemen -- Om Puri and Naseeruddin Shah --fighting Naxalism despite all odds against them.

In the early 1970s, villagers of Naxalbari in West Bengal took up arms to fight against landlords. The police crushed their uprising brutally, and it led to the famous Naxal movement.

Today, Maoist guerrillas - whose aims and objectives are very similar to the Naxal movement -- are active in states like Chattisgarh, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, parts of Maharashtra.

Nihalani's film was engaging, but not entertaining, and it flopped badly at the box office.
