Director M F Husain wanted Madhuri to look like Mona Lisa in a shot. I had a photograph of Mona Lisa, and tried to make out what fabric and design Madhuri should wear for an identical look. It's very difficult to follow a photograph, as you have to guess the fabric and other things. Besides, the picture was till the torso.
We made Madhuri wear a gown. I dyed the fabric in tea to give it a vintage look. Mickey Contractor did the make-up.
If you see Mona Lisa, her forehead is quite broad. So we made Madhuri wear a wig. That took a lot of time, as I had to explain the exact requirements to the wig-maker.
At the end of it, Madhuri looked like straight out of the picture.
For this shot, we even shot at the Louvre in Paris.
