Designing Miss Dixit

I first worked with Madhuri during a photoshoot with Gautam Rajadhyaksha. After seeing the results, she asked me to design her outfits in N Chandra's Wajood.
Wajood was my first film with Madhuri. I designed all her outfits for this film, but designing her outfit for the song Tu gaye chadak karke made me very nervous.
I chose an electric blue colour and enhanced it with mirror-work, and also gave her silver jewellery for a gypsy look. Instead of a dupatta, I gave her a bandanna.
I was extremely paranoid about designing this outfit. I felt like I was going for an exam! Madhuri was always known for her songs and dances, and I was not sure if I would be able to deliver. This was the most elaborate outfit in the film. But when we saw the first shot on the monitor, it looked good.
