A simplistic tale, this Hamilton Luske and Ben Sharpsteen directed version was always considered far too 'adult' in content, with none other than Playboy chastising it for 43 instances of violence and other unfavourable behaviour, including 23 instances of battery, 9 acts of property damage, 3 slang uses of the term 'jackass,' 3 acts of violence involving animals, 2 shots of male nudity, and 1 instance of implied death.
The first Disney feature to be released on DVD, this evergreen film made sure generations of children grew up with Jiminy Cricket for a conscience.
