Rang De Basanti
Wow. Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra changed the face of contemporary Indian cinema with this rousing tale of youngsters discovering they have a voice. While critics might harp about the simplistic ending, there is no denying the widespread effect the film has had on the youth of the nation today, and its cult appeal.
Impressive as ever, Aamir Khan bit the bullet and worked in an authentic ensemble film, admirably handing over the climax to Siddharth.
The cast provided revelations, as did the director, reintroducing us to A R Rahman. While Soha Ali Khan's conveniently leaving martyrdom to the men may have incensed feminists, Rang De was definitely an immense awakening.
