Tamil Cinema: The year so far
July 17, 2006
Even Vishnuvardhan, the young director of Pattiyal, may not have expected
such a response.
The film is about two orphans living on the streets of Chennai and becoming
part of the city's underworld. Arya, with his rugged looks, won lots of
applause in the first part, but Bharath as the deaf and dumb character
hogged the limelight in the last 20 minutes.
With Pattiyal, Vishnuvardhan, who writes his own scripts, has become one of
the hottest directors in Tamil cinema.
