Hollywood films to watch out for!

V For Vendetta

Director: James McTeigue
Starring: Natalie Portman, Hugo Weaving, Stephen Rea, John Hurt, Stephen Fry

If you haven't heard of McTeigue, don't despair. He isn't some fancy, indie new-wave director. Actually, James is a long time assistant to the two men who are credited as screenwriters for this film.

They are called the brothers Wachowski, and they created The Matrix.

Based on the Alan Moore novel -- observers will remember that Moore's comics were last massacred on screen in the intensely awful League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen -- V For Vendetta is the story of an intellectual, almost Zorro-esque vigilante known simply as V (Weaving, aka Agent Smith).

The film is told through the eyes of a young woman, Evey (Portman). Rescued by the revolution-igniting V, she becomes a devoted ally to the cause.

V For Vendetta is set in a warped, landscape of the UK in the future under a totalitarian regime, and we all know these are settings Weaving can be more than comfortable in. V needs to be incredibly charismatic, though, and it should be amusing to see Weaving attempt to be smooth.

As for Natalie, we like her in everything. From Garden State to Star Wars.
