A peek at Netru Indru Naalai
The uniqueness of the show, the creators said, was, "no compeering, no introductions; only song and dance sequences depicting the various eras of cinema, without any break."
It is this uniqueness that became the only sour point of the show. There were quite a few songs from the 1950s and 1960s but, for a majority of the crowd, even Kamal Haasan and Rajnikanth belonged to yesterday.
To those growing up on the films of Vijay, Ajith and Vikram, those songs made absolutely no sense. With no introduction to their history and background, most of the audience were clueless, asking grey-haired members which era the songs belonged to. Unfortunately, even older members were familiar only with the songs of Kamal Haasan and Rajnikanth, and not those of Sivaji Ganesan, MGR or Muthuraman!
