Remembering Dilipsaab's Babul
Set in a small village, Babul is a story of a young postmaster (Dilip Kumar). He stays in the house of a former postmaster and meets his daughter (Nargis). Nargis falls deeply in love, dreaming of a life with him. Meanwhile Dilip develops feelings for the Zamindar's daughter (Munawar Sultana), who reciprocates his affection.
Nargis lies to Munawar, telling her Dilip confessed his love to Nargis, and can't love Munawar. The Zamindar's daughter is heartbroken, and to get over her heartbreak, she marries a wealthy suitor.
In an ultimately tragic twist, Nargis develops an illness and dies. And Dilip Kumar is left alone.
