Ravichandran: Still busy acting
August 14, 2006
It is difficult pin 'Crazy Star' Ravichandran down. He is an actor who eats, sleeps and thinks cinema, 24 hours a day. But, for the time being, he has decided to restrict his activities to just acting, that too from 9 am to 6 pm. Directing, editing, composing and re-recording music, and writing scripts have become a thing of the past. Today, he is busy working in
several films at the same time, quite an unusual feature in his two decade-long career.
His new films are the soon to be released Odahuttidavalu, a remake of Cheran's first film Porkaalam; Neelakanta, another remake of En Raasavain Manasile by Raj Kiran; Ugadi, the third remake in the list based on Nagarjuna-starrer Santhosham; and Ravi Shashtri, based on Bhagyaraj-directed Tamil film Idhu Namma Aalu. Three of these films are directed by Sai Prakash while Ravi Shashtri is directed by veteran director M S Rajashekhar.
While Radhika and Rakshitha are the leading ladies for Odahuttidavalu, Namitha is the heroine for Neelakanta, Sneha is paired with him in Ravi Shashtri, Jennifer in Jogi and Kamna Jethmalani in Ugadi.
The actor speaks to R G Vijayasarathy about his future goals and why he has decided to take a temporary break from other aspects of filmmaking.
