Everyone has to struggle in life. There is no short cut to success. When I came to Mumbai, I stayed with a friend -- cinematographer Deepak Malvekar. I stayed with him for a year, and he never charged me rent.
Though he was a cinematographer, I did not ask him for his help to bag a role.
I was among the 500 hopefuls who turned up to audition for the character of Sujal in the serial, Kahiin Toh Hoga. Later, I auditioned for the serial, Kya Haadsa, Kya Haqeeqat.
I got a call from Balaji to play Sujal five months after I auditioned for it.
I am what I am today because of my sincerity, dedication and focus. I enjoy every moment of being in front of the camera. You need to go through the grind to get the best out of you.
I decided after my Standard 12 that, even if I have to fail, I would first make an effort. There is no point in sitting at home and cribbing. If you have faith in yourself, you will go places.
