My first encounter with Balaji Telefilms was a disaster. I had done a pilot for them called Kuch Aise Rishte, which was not approved. Later, I was shooting for the serial Karam when Ekta walked into the sets. I was playing Yash Tonk's bhabhi and was dressed in a traditional get-up.
Ekta just told me, 'You are my Parvati.'
I had a lot of apprehensions about the serial, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, though Ekta always told me that once the serial was on air, people would call me Parvati.
She would say that Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii would rewrite television history. I did not believe her; every producer talks like this about their work.
When I went for a narration three weeks before the show was slated to go on air, I realised that, for once, the bhabhi was the central character.
