Supporting Actress, Comedy Series: Doris Roberts, Everybody Loves Raymond
Doris May Roberts beat 100 other actresses for her role as Marie Barone on Everybody Loves Raymond. Which means she pretty much nailed the part from the word Go. It also explains why she has been nominated for 10 Emmy Awards in the past, and has won three consecutive awards for the role of Marie between 2001 and 2003.
Born in 1929 in Missouri, USA, Roberts has managed to shine on Broadway for years. She also has more than 30 films to her credit. If her face looks familiar, blame it on that Emmy-nominated role she played in Remington Steele.
Interestingly, she is a US cultural ambassador and often travels to underprivileged countries, speaking to the youth. To know more about her, pick up her best-selling memoir, Are You Hungry, Dear?
