Amit Sana is a great fan of classical vocalist Ustad Rashid Khan, and would sing only his songs during competitions.

"Even my voice is similar to his!" exclaims Amit.

Amit did not have too many friends in Bhilai, and spent most of his time studying engineering and singing. "He is good in studies, and managed to give equal importance to his studies and singing," said his friend Shyam, who took leave from work and attended the last four Indian Idol recordings.

Amit's mother Rajshree is a housewife. "Without listening to his songs," she says, "we felt lonely. So we recorded his shows and played them through the week to fill his absence. He lost the final round, but for me, he is always the Indian Idol!"

Amit's sister Anuradha helped select his songs. "I would suggest songs which he would sing," she says, "as I have a good knowledge of music. I can judge better which popular songs he could sing better and which the audiences would also like."
