Dirty Harry
This Don Seigel film gave Clint the ruthless, hard as nails cop persona of Harry Callahan, and almost single-handedly gave birth to the still flourishing genre of tough-cop films. The sobriquet 'Dirty' is one he wears unashamedly, and even with gritty pride.
Dirty Harry was armed with an iconic Colt Magnum .44 and a trigger-happy finger, not to mention dagger-sharp catchphrases that blew classic cinema vocabulary to smithereens. A plain-clothes policeman with a blatant disregard for authority, Harry is an ambigious character – but obviously the good guy after the smoke clears.
Clint quote of the film: 'I know what you're thinking. 'Did he fire six shots or only five?' Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself. But being as this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself a question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?'
