Special: Oscars 2005
Win like Clint
The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly

This Sergio Leone film was the third in the marvellous 'Man With No Name' series, preceded by A Fistful Of Dollars and For A Few Dollars More. This one suddenly took the box-office by storm, and catapulted Clint to international superstardom.

Often called the best western ever, the film broke away from convention in every way, the opening ten-and-a-half minutes totally dispensing with dialogue!

Clint played Joe, referred to by Tuco (Eli Wallach) as 'Blondie,' and wasn't really the 'Good' his character promised, being an opportunistic rogue with few scruples, but immensely likeable, dripping with charisma, and a man with a code of honour.

A classic moment is when he gives a dying Confederate soldier a puff of his cigar. The shot encompasses everything The Man With No Name stands for, without a word.

Clint quote of the film: 'You see, in this world there's two kinds of people, my friend: Those with loaded guns and those who dig. You dig.'
