Santosh Sivan's Ananthabhadram is a landmark film mainly because it goes deep into territory never traversed by filmmakers in Kerala before.

As the director said, watching the film was like listening to a grandmother's tale -- a tale with lots of colour, magic and music. Technically, Malayalam cinema has not seen anything like this before. But what else can you expect from Santosh Sivan?
