The Priyadarshan film, starring the never-paired-before duo of Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor, generated lot of expectations.

Kyon Ki… had a clear advantage because it released during Diwali, a time when almost all films win at the box office.

But the film was far too serious, and could not capture the magic of its Malayalam original, Thalavattam.

It bombed. And how!
