Constantine
This Keanu Reeves-starring horror flick is the unlikeliest of comic-book adaptations.
One of the darkest DC titles, Garth Ennis' Hellblazer is the sordid saga of John Constantine, cigarette-scousing sorcerer, who sees the line dividing good and evil rather blurrily, and has frequently necromantic excursions.
Ennis modelled the look and character of Constantine in the 1980s on the then enigmatic British rockstar Sting, right down to the quirky eyebrows and the sarcasm.
Now, in a purely Hollywood context, John is not blonde. Or British. And is played by an actor feted for his convincing 'confused' look. Not the most optimistic of situations, this.
