Varma Corporation and I share the same philosophy. If it wasn't for a like-minded producer, where would I go? It's a relief to be able to do what I want to do.
But aren't you isolated from other banners?
The advantages outweigh the disadvantages. My intention was not to be restricted to Varma Corporation. I wanted to do good work.
Now, a pattern has formed in my working style. I have to accept the restriction and try to broaden my spectrum. But working for this banner is not a raw deal. I've just done one outside film, Khiladi 420, and I do not disregard it. I did it after my first release, Mast, to get away from my girl-next-door image. But Khiladi 420 was not the right idiom for me.
