Niranja Manasu:

This can be best described as Vijayakanth at home. Yes, it's another film with all the action centering around a village. Vijayakanth has been successful whenever he acted as a villager, and has always looked quite comfortable in these roles.

In Niranja manasu, Vijayakanth plays Ayyanar, the head of a large family in a remote village in Madurai. The story revolves around how he reforms his village with the help of a young woman, played by Susan, imported all the way from Hyderabad!

The shooting of the film took place in a village near Udumalpet where an Ayyanar temple was built exclusively for the film.

This film is very important for both Vijaykanth's acting as well as his political career. His last film Gajendra, with a lot of direct political messages, failed to ignite passion even among his fans, and bombed at the box office.
