It has been a while since Ganesh Acharya first put on his dancing shoes.

"My elder sister taught me to dance," says the choreographer, who has films like Badshah, Lajja, Road, Tere Naam and Aitraaz on his resume.

"At 15, I announced my own troupe. At 19, I became a choreographer. I worked under a great choreographer, (the late) Kamalji.

"My sister told me that if I wanted to choreograph my kind of dance, I should meet Govinda," says Ganesh.

As luck would have it, Govinda spotted the youngster while Ganesh was assisting Kamalji.

Many years and hits later, the duo are inseparable. "Whenever there is a function in my house, Govinda has to be present," says Ganesh.

"He means everything to me. If I buy a new car, Govinda has to take the first drive. He is my mentor and my greatest supporter. He recommends me to his producers. He has given me innumerable movies," he adds. "I don't stay in his constituency but my wishes are always with him."

The 33-year-old dancer, who has choreographed more than 1200 Bollywood songs, speaks to Patcy N about his 10 favourite dance tracks.
