Director Mira Nair's $23 million film, Vanity Fair, premiered in New York on August 16. The Reese Witherspoon (Legally Blonde, Sweet Home Alabama) starrer is the sixth film adaptation of William Makepeace Thackeray's unforgettable classic.

Set in 19th century London, Vanity Fair is about Becky Sharp (Witherspoon), a poor orphan who uses her wit and sexuality to climb the social ladder.

A slice of trivia: Reese, who was expecting her second child during the filming of Vanity Fair, convinced the filmmakers to include her pregnancy in the script.
