World No Tobacco Day on May 31 saw a host of film, fashion and media personalities join hands with the Union health and family welfare ministry, the World Health Organisation, and the Cancer Patients Aid Association, a Mumbai-based NGO, to pledge support to tobacco-free films and fashion. Present at a panel discussion on the role of films, fashion, media and advertising in tobacco control were Union Health Minister Sushma Swaraj, Maharashtra Health Minister Digvijay Khanvilkar, WHO's southeast Asia director Abdul Sattar Yoosuf, Star India CEO Peter Mukherjea, and McCann-Erickson adman Prasoon Joshi.
Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and actors Shashi Kapoor, Urmila Matondkar, Vivek Oberoi, and Milind Soman also attended the discussion.
