Silsila (1981)

Yash Chopra's Silsila was one of Rekha's most talked about films: her costar was Amitabh Bachchan whom she was rumoured to be having an affair with. The film, which also featured Jaya Bachchan, was said to be close to real life.

The film bombed but remains a classic romance.

Amitabh gives up Rekha for Jaya, when he finds she is pregnant with his dead brother Shashi Kapoor's child. Rekha then marries Sanjeev Kumar. The lovers continue to meet much to the agony of their spouses. The confrontation scene between Jaya and Rekha is spectacular.

Her marriage to businessman Mukesh Agarwal plunged Rekha into a dark phase after he allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself with Rekha's dupatta.
