'His energy is amazing!'

Jatin:

FOR a man who is so busy, his music sense is on the dot.

He listens to songs with such keenness that you can't pass anything that's not right by him.

That tunefulness of his is amazing -- otherwise he looks so restless.

Lalit:

Each time you sit with him, you learn from him. His commitment and dedication to his work can well teach all of us something.

I remember, once we were torecord a song for him late in the evening. He came to Sunny Sound studio on schedule, sat there for hours with us, heard us, gave his inputs and finished what he'd come for.

This was after a full day of shooting. After that, he showed us his foot -- it was swollen and his whole leg was covered with blood.

Deeply concerned, we asked him why he didn't call us over to his place rather than have him travel with an injured foot. He brushed off the queries, saying that work was more important and that he would be okay.

What was amazing was he must have been in terrible pain -- but it just didn't occur to him to cancel a sitting or a recording and waste time.

He's an amazing man -- as creative as he is considerate and kind. Dev Saab calls our elder brother, Mandhir, to sit with us, even though he no longer composes with us!

It has been our privilege to have worked with him in two films, Gangster and, now, Censor.

Strange, whenever we visit him at his penthouse, he always takes the stairs. We use the lift. Now, we make it a point to climb the stairs, too, but we are not as disciplined.

We can't make ourselves use the lift in his building -- it's now sort of a devotion to his energy!
