Prem Rog
Padmini Kolhapure and Rishi Kapoor
|
1982
A poor but educated man is in love with his childhood friend, the village zamindar's grand-daughter. Blissfully unaware of his feelings, she marries another man, but is widowed on her marriage night. Soon after, her brother-in-law rapes her. Her friend still wants to marry her. But widow remarriage is unthinkable.
Sepia
Love amongst pride and prejudice. The story bares the ugliness inherent in chauvinism and in traditions that prevent widow remarriage.
Uncut
Though Padmini Kolhapure has acted in Raj Kapoor's Satyam Shivam Sundaram, she is asked to take an elaborate screen test. She has to enact three scenes. One as a mischievous girl who is always teasing her childhood friend. The second as a bride. The third reflects the tense moments when, as a widow, her head is being shaven.
