Ritz will be powered by a modern K12M petrol engine. This engine is part of Suzuki's modern K-series engine family.
Maruti manufactures the K12M engine at its brand new, state-of the-art engine manufacturing facility at its Gurgaon plant, which was inaugurated last year with the launch of A-star's K10B engine.
"The K12M engine is another example of Maruti Suzuki's commitment to take engine technology in India to the next level. The K12M engine further strengthens Maruti Suzuki's efforts for fuel-efficient, green engine technology for Indian customers," Shinzo Nakanishi, managing director and chief executive of Maruti Suzuki, said recently.
Ritz 1.2L engine will generate a maximum power of 84 bhp at 6,000 rpm and a peak torque of 113 Nm at 4,500 rpm.
The new engine complies with the upcoming Bharat Stage-IV emission standards. The use of advanced engineering like rocker-less DOHC camshaft and an all-aluminium construction will help the Ritz achieve higher fuel efficiency.
