Maruti's new 'world strategic model' will be called Ritz in India as the name 'Splash' has been registered by another car manufacturer.
Based on the shortened version of the Swift's platform, Ritz is part of Suzuki's global model which also includes Swift, SX4, Grand Vitara and A-star.
The Ritz has replaced the boxy Wagon-R in the Western markets but the latter will continue to be sold in India. Unlike the Wagon-R, the styling of Ritz exudes a sporty and fresh appeal.
Akira Kamio, the man behind the iconic Swift, headed the team of engineers who designed the Ritz.
