IN TOP GEAR: With a gain of 185.1 per cent in its market cap, Tata Motors Ltd secured the 9th place.
The company's market cap grew by Rs 9,623 crore (Rs 96.23 billion) to Rs 14,820 by December end, from Rs 5,198 crore (Rs 51.98 billion) in January.
In 2003, Tata Engineering and Locomotive Company Ltd, the Tata group flagship company, changed its name to Tata Motors Limited.
Telco, which was established in 1945, initially manufactured steam locomotives. Later it expanded its operations by making heavy commercial vehicles and light commercial vehicles.
