As always, Inamdar did not miss a chance to share statistics about the growth of IT industry in Karnataka and Bangalore's contribution specifically.

Inamdar explained to German Ambassador Richter that Bangalore today has about 1,200 IT companies compared to just 13, a decade ago.

Every fortnight, three companies set up their development centres in the city.

Karnataka today contributes 30 per cent of the total software exports from India.

In turn, Ambassador Richter during his inaugural speech talked about Indo-German trade in IT.

"In 2002, India exported software worth Euro 200 million to Germany. However, in 5 years time, we expect that to go up to Euro 5 billion," he said.
