Nintendo's Wii will be priced at Rs 19,900 in India

The worldwide gaming phenomenon -- the Nintendo Wii -- is finally set to release in India on September 30, along with Nintendo's DS Lite handheld. The consoles will be brought to India by Samurai India, who first introduced Nintendo video games in Indian in 1987.

Mahesh Toshniwal of Samurai Games India spoke with Sameer Desai about Nintendo's Wii, it's launch date and the pricing of these consoles in India.

Firstly, can you give us a brief introduction of yourself and Samurai India; its history and current operations?

Samurai introduced 8-bit Nintendo video games in India in 1987 and was instrumental in bringing Nintendo Home Video Games to India. Samurai is an authorised reseller of Active Boeki K. K. of Kobe, Japan, who distributed Nintendo for South-East Asia, the Middle East and India. Incidentally, Active Boeki's chief, Mr Suresh K. Lal, is an Indian from Ajmer.

What is the release date for the Wii and DS in India?

Release date for Wii and DS Lite is 30th September, 2008.

How much will the Wii and DS priced at?

The MRP for the Wii is Rs 19,990 and the DS Lite is priced at Rs 7,990 inclusive of all taxes.

Will the Wii come bundled with Wii Sports?

Yes, the Wii will come bundled with Wii Sports and with an original 220 Volts Nintendo AC adapter.
