Jhunka Bhakar in Mahim

During one of my gallivanting sessions around town, I spotted a similar looking stall at Mahim, opposite Goa Portugesa restaurant. No, this couldn't be true. How come I hadn't known of its existence before? My love for homemade food, prompted me to check out the place. I could see jars filled with freshly made Rawa and Besan Laddoos, Karanjis and Shakarparas. Doesn't this remind you of Diwali? Yes! So if you want to count your calories, steer clear of those tempting jars. Just stick to their regular fare -- Chapattis, rice Bhakris, Subzis, Daal, Sabudana Khichdi, Poha and other light snacks.

What's endearing about this place is the warmth exuded, not just by the friendly, smiling women who run the stall, but also the sight of them cooking. It gives the feel that you're eating in your own kitchen.
