Eating out in Kolkata this Durga Puja
October 6, 2008
For the Generation X of Kolkata, Durga Puja comes in a package deal these days in which fashion and food are intrinsically linked. Kolkatans take great pride in being gourmet, and, when it comes to Durga Puja, no Kolkatan, worth his/her salt would consider the fun complete without eating out during those festive four days. Then again, street foods of Kolkata have a class of their own, and, as one goes pandal hopping across the city, one has to tuck in a whole variety of street food -- at least for sustenance if not for anything else!
Talking about restaurants and bistros, all the food joints across the city have decked up and many a new one has opened to make hay during the Puja frenzy. It has become almost customary for the restaurants to work out special festive menus and offer exclusive buffet packages.
Navratri tunes on your mobile!
For the young ones, the excitement builds up well in advance. There have to be quite a few adda sessions before they can finally agree on the food destinations. It is indeed a problem of plenty.
Without spoiling the adventure part of it, here's just a few tips to tickle the tastebuds. Also, one can rest assured that none of these addresses would burn a big hole in your pocket!
