Advanced settings

June 26, 2008

The 3MP CMOS camera supports a maximum resolution of 2048 x 1536 with auto-focus backed up by an extremely weak LED flash. Picture quality is what you can expect from any other Nokia S60 3MP smartphone and is quite decent. The available resolutions are:

  • Print 3M -- Large = 2048x1536
  • Print 2M -- Large = 1600x1200
  • Print/e-mail 0.8M -- Small = 1024x768
  • Multimedia message 0.3M = 640x480

Picture size averages anywhere from 75KB to 1MB depending upon the resolution and it has a whopping, although inaccurate, 20x digital zoom. Surprisingly, picture quality cannot be adjusted with the N78. Some of the more advanced settings include:

  • Sharpness/Contrast settings
  • Exposure Compensation for sharpening picture shots on a -2 to +2 range in 0.5 steps
  • Simplified ISO Sensitivity settings unlike what you would find on digital cameras
  • Manual White Balance settings

FP2 adds a snazzy effect to the camera viewfinder every time you zoom in and out which makes it pretty cool. Furthermore FP2 enhances the look of the Image gallery by implementing a standard 3-D Navi Wheel design with better fade in-out animations. Browsing images is whole lot faster with FP2.
