Ashish Manik, 27, a Centurion Bank employee, is yet another credit card user who owns more than one card. Currently he prefers swiping his HSBC Gold credit card to make purchases.
"I only use those cards that give me better service and better experience for using them," he says. He is one of those discerning credit card users who wouldn't flash the plastic without first reading the fine print with a toothcomb.
He has switched to HSBC Gold card recently after he was disappointed with ICICI Bank and Citibank credit cards. "Citibank doesn't accept cash deposit at their branches," he protests.
And this inconvenienced him a lot. He abhors missing out on his due date and makes it a point to drop his credit card payment at the nearest dropbox well before the due date. However, the problem arises, he says, when he travels. His pet peeve against Citibank: "The problem that I had with Citibank was they don't have inquiry desk at their branches."
But is he happy with the card he is currently using? "I am happy with my HSBC Gold credit card and the service offered by them." Does he get unsolicited promotional calls from them? Yes, says he, and adds that he doesn't mind them because he gets some information about the products that his credit card company is offering to their customers.
The only thing Ahish doesn't like about credit cards is their size. "It is this big and I would like it to be much smaller," he uses his fingers to show the size.
