A popular entry-level multimedia phone, the w200i with the famous Walkman branding is doing well for itself by giving a fair bit of everything to the user -- except Bluetooth; those looking for a fancy phone on a budget should not complain.
Key features
~ It supports MP3 and AAC files for the music listeners, and comes with good quality stereo headphones.
~ It comes with a 128MB Memory Stick Micro for music storage, along with up to 27MB of internal memory.
~ Boasts of high sound clarity.
~ It has a camera with video recording capabilities but critics do not have much respect for these; at 0.3 Megapixels what can one expect?
~ Its 128 x 160 pixel display is not very sharp either, but is good for the basic functions.
~ It is available in two colours -- 'Rhythm Black' and 'Pulse White'.
The frills
If you are on the move, features like push mail, web browsing and RSS feeds (to get the latest updates from selected websites and blogs) should make life easier. Additional features include the PC Suite (for data transfer), Quicktime, PhotoShop Album SE and Disc2Phone software for musical transfers.
Some techie stuff
A Tri-Band GSM phone, it has a good battery life, claimed to be 360 hours on standby.
The not-so-good
The keys are of a comfortable size, but its joystick selector has been reported to have problems of selecting text when scrolling down and vice-versa.
As a music phone, not really a replacement to your MP3 player. The single speaker is tiny and entirely uninspiring, but audio quality did improve markedly through the supplied headphones.
